Hey what's up everybody??

This week disappeared. It was definitely because we were busy which always is way good. We started off our week with a Bible stand on the campus of Queens which was super cool. Students crack me up, I feel like I'm back in High School when I'm around them. It's super good talking to them because they're super open to hearing what you say but they don't care about Jesus at all. We met one guy who thought the Book of Mormon was, "super sick!" and we're hoping to meet with him this week and finally get some new blood in the YSA. Pray for Chase if you get a chance.

We also had Zone Conference and I got to see all of my buddies from my last district which is always good. At the end of Zone Conference Elder Mohi had to run to an area to do a baptismal interview so we went on a mini exchange and I drove with another Elder to an area called Peterborough. As we were driving up some THICK fog dropped down on us. It was pretty wild how bad it was and I was on the highway so it was crazy to navigate. We got to the area and we switched comps back and I drove back through at it got worse, a car almost ran straight into us on a small road it was crazy. The mists of darkness are a lot more real in my mind now from that experience lol.

A small spiritual thought: I was watching a video about an analysis of the Book of Mormon and it was talking about the literary miracle it is. A guy was analyzing it from the point of view that Joseph Smith wrote it and he said that if the Book of Mormon stood alone as a book of fantasy it would be one of the most remarkable works of literature ever written. Joseph Smith is a prophet and there is no doubt that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. It's not even possible that it could have been written by him, it was written by the Prophets of the Old World of the Americas and it's an insane argument to say that it wasn't found by the way Joseph Smith said he found it. I love the Book of Mormon and I love studying it. Gain a testimony of the Book of Mormon, it's the most important book you can spend your time reading.

Love all you guys talk to you next week!

What's good?

This week the grind has started to pay off. The students are coming back to school finally so we're in business. We went on exchanges and I was with a dude who's been out of the MTC for 3 weeks and he does not like talking to people so I had to get creative. A missionary here had made a survey he used for contacting so I printed out a bunch and headed to he campus. We talked to a lot of people and got some contact info from like 4 people so that was dope.

Oh yeah, Happy New Year! Hope everyone had a solid New Year. I spent my New Year at a Subway across the street from my apartment till 9. We are party animals.

We're teaching a woman named Christina from the Philipines which is going well. She's accepting all of the lessons and believes the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that Joseph Smith is a prophet but the only problem is she works the night shift at a hospital so she literally works 10 pm to 7 am including weekends so 10 am church is not working for her. She's also going to school during the day now since the holidays are over and we're scared she'll never be able to meet with us. Hopefully she can find some free time and a miracle can happen so that she doesn't have to work on weekends.

Love you all and I'll talk to you next week!

Happy New Year

It's pretty wild that in 2 days it's going to be 2020. You know what that means I'm entering my black out year. No one will see me from back home in 2020 which is pretty crazy. I had a pretty dope 2019 so hopefully 2020 is just as good.

This week was a grind. Because of the holiday season there are like no people here. To add on top of that it's winter and even if someone is on the streets they don't want to talk because they are trying to get out of the cold. So it's pretty dead up here in Kingston but it'll hopefully pick up this next week.

We've spent a ton of time in the Psyciactric Ward of the hospital because a less active we've been working with had to go there for the last couple weeks. So that's where I spent my Christmas evening and when we went there yesterday all the crazy people wanted Bibles and Book of Mormons so we gave them a ton of those lol.

New year so it's time for resolutions. I'm sure a ton of you already have resolutions but if you don't I have one for you. Pick one Christlike attribute you want to work on this year and work on it through out the year. That's what I'm doing and it's a good way to improve in a lot of aspects of your life. Happy New year! Talk to you all next week.

Whats up guys!

This week was a pretty crazy week. Mostly because we did a bunch of exchanges and I was with the Zone leader for a night which was dope. Our zone leaders are way cool so it's always fun to work with them.

Welp we had to drop Gilbert this week from our teaching pool. It's sad but it's mostly frustrating. He's so stubborn and won't change what he thinks from his reading from the Bible. We taught about the Fall of Adam and Eve and how it was a good thing and he absolutely refused to even entertain the thought that it was a good thing. We showed him evidence and he wouldn't even listen he would just say no. So we said that if he's not willing to learn that we can't teach him and he tried to say that we aren't sharing the truth and I kind of rebuked him. I just testified that our doctrine is perfect and if he opened his mind he would see and the Holy Ghost would testify to him that they were true. He was silent the whole time I was testifying which isn't like him. It felt like Amulek when he's talking to Zeezrom and he finishes with the true doctrine in Alma 11-12 and Zeezrom is dead silent. Gilbert isn't wicked but he feels confused I can tell, but as the scriptures say ,"...the field is white, already to harvest..." it's not green ready to be planted, it's not brown ready to be watered, it's white ready to be harvested. We know that he isn't ready to accept the message but I know there are tons of people that are ready to accept the message and we can't waste time when we could be finding them.

My time in Scarborough has come to an end! Very sad to leave a lot of people but I'm excited to go to a new area and teach more people. I am transferred to a city called Kingston. It's as far east as I can get in my mission and I'm in a branch and my new comp is Elder Mohi from Tahiti, I'm excited to meet him.

Love you all the church is true! Talk to you next week!

How's it going everyone,

This week like the week indicates was a little dry. Turns out people don't enjoy the cold very much and when you try and talk to them they enjoy you even less. Me and Elder White went tracting at a bunch of town homes and people looked through their windows and waved us off or just kinda looked from the top and said, "It's too cold!" We're like you're telling me buddy.

This week we had another lesson with Gilbert and we were really hoping for a miracle with him. I had been praying for him the whole week, prepping a solid lesson, getting really pumped for a miracle to happen aaaannnnndddd it was the worse lesson I've taught on my mission. The Spirit was killed with contention and every attempt to bring it back did not work. So I was really bummed and now we might have to drop him because he's not making any progress, so that's really sad for me.

This week you all should go and watch the new Nativity video it's really good and the wise men are awesome. Go shovel someone's driveway too! That's an easy way to be nice. Love you all and hope you continue to have a great Christmas season!

Whats up it's Elder Shipley

This week was pretty solid. It's still a grind here in Scarborough. Toronto, Canada is an interesting place and it gets more interesting with everyone I talk to haha. We got a call last week saying that our tripan was getting split up and now Elder Hugh is training a visa waiter straight out of the MTC and me and Elder White are having a party trying to share the Gospel.

The most insane Spiritual experience of my mission happened this week. So me and my trainer like my first 3 weeks found a guy named Gilbert and he has been one of my favorite and least favorite inverstigators I've had. He has been so frusterating and has pushed me to become more literate in the scriptures and he has grown me into a way better teacher. I want him to get baptized. SO. FREAKING. BAD. I love this guy so much but he's so stubborn. I pray for him every night that he'll feel the Spirit when he asks by himself. Anyway, enough ranting heres the story. So we prep for the lesson and we decide we're just gonna testify of our Savior Jesus Christ and testify and pound the Book of Mormon and just bring the Spirit and help him recognize the Spirit. We go in and the lesson starts off good and then it just went down hill. He started getting frusterated and going after our doctorine even though we were giving him layup answers that I feel like can't be interperated at all a different way. He has a lot off Catholic doctorine ingrained in him even though he doesn't like the Catholic church. We just got really bold with Gilbert and basically called him out and said if he really believes in the Holy Ghost and that it can tell him the truth of all things then he shouldn't be this stubborn. We said he could not believe one word we said but if he brings this information we've shared to Heavenly Father in prayer the Holy Ghost will testify. We answered every question he tried to come back at us with, "Ask and the Holy Ghost will testify, we've already given you the answer." The Holy Ghost was so strong in that room and he finally said, "Fine if we want the Holy Ghost to talk to us, pray for me right now." And as soon as he said that I was prompted and I told him that as priesthood holders we could give him a blessing. He agreed and I started giving him the blessing. I was saying that we bless him to have an open mind and an open heart as he calls on his Heavenly Father in prayer to know if the Church is true and all of a sudden I had no control over my mouth and the words just came out by the Spirit, "And know through the Power of the Holy Ghost that this is the true church you have been looking for." I have never felt the Spirit so strong when those words came out of me. If he denies feeling the Holy Ghost the next time we see him I'll be kinda crushed, because I know he feels the Spirit.

Sorry about the long email but the Church is true. There is no doubt and I have been so infinitly blessed to have been born into this Church. I know The Book of Mormon is true and I know Joseph Smith was a Prophet of God, I know the true church was restored and that Jesus Christ is leading this church. I'll talk to you all next week, love you guys!

Hey what's up amigos\
This was a solid week. We worked really hard this week on finding and I feel like my bus contacting and testifying with the Spirit has been getting a lot better and I'm really pumped about it. Even when people turn me down or don't show interest it doesn't really phase me so I'm feeling good right now haha.\
Cool Bus contacting story: So we were on the way home from serving at a Food Bank and I was sitting on the bus and this guy sat next to me. I just started talking with him and he didn't really want to talk to me but I just kept up conversation. He started to open up when I told him that I work for my church and that I don't get paid and that I really love church because I get to feel the Spirit in my life. I felt the Holy Ghost as I was just doing simple, simple testifying, not even anything about our church in specific. Anyway he started to open up a little bit and told me his name was Wilson and he was from Kenya. Shout out to Elder Jakes because there are so many people from Africa here and when I tell them my best friend is working for our church in Africa they get excited and open up. He started asking me questions and said that he might come to church Dec 1 so everyone pray for Wilson.\
Alright to the title of my email and one of the funniest experiences on my mission so far. We just dropped off a Bible to a guy in a cemetery, also kind of funny, and are waiting at a bus stop. All of a sudden this tiny East Indian guy walks out of the gas station and sees us and gets excited. He waddles over to us and just goes 100 mph in his accent and all I could pick out was that he has gone to our church before, he likes the missionaries, he was starting a new job, and he just barley got a new out fit for work. He looks at me and hands me a tie he pulls out of his pocket and does a motion for me to tie it, so I tie it and he bends his head down and so I slide it on but then he just stays like that so I pop his collar, tuck in the tie, straighten his collar, get the knot all straight and snugg and lemme tell you my boy Rajeejh was looking fresh. We were hyping his outfit up. Then he starts speaking 100 mph again and motions to his pants pocket and saying "Rip it" to my companion Elder Hugh. Like all new dress pants the pockets were sewn shut and my boy Rajeejh needed them back pockets. So he's motioning for Elder Hugh and Elder Hugh looks so uncomfortable and Rajeejh is like, "It's okay you can touch my bum, we are friends." So he's like aight and opened his pocket for him. He gave lots of thanks and went off to his new job I guess. It was very funny we laughed at Elder Hugh for a long time.\
Sorry this email is really long already but for a Spiritual thought I would just encourage you to figure out how the Spirit speaks to you. I've had a hard time descerning the Spirit on my mission but this transfer I've been having a really good time and getting to understand it a lot better and it's really cool. The church is true and all you need is the Spirit to tell you. Love you guys talk to you next week!
